In the Lozach lab, we are investigating how arthropod-borne viruses infect humans and subsequently spread throughout the host, specifically from a virology and cell biology perspective. Our group is located on the campus of the University Hospital Heidelberg (Contact us) and is mainly funded by CellNetworks – Cluster of Excellence (EXC81). We are part of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Virology, the head of which is Prof. Hans-Georg Kraeusslich. In the course of 2017, we will move into a brand-new building entirely dedicated to research on infectious diseases (picture on the right). Parts of this new building are designed to perform live-cell and animal imaging with BSL3 pathogens.
